Explore the history of art through hands-on projects in this Art History course for high school homeschoolers or classroom students. All structured with a Charlotte Mason approach, each term surveys a different era of art history, placing key works in chronological context alongside the broader historical time period — connecting naturally to Picture Study lessons students may have completed in earlier grades. Students complete four to six projects per term spanning a range of mediums and styles, from sculpture and fresco to abstract painting. No prior Art Instruction or Picture Study experience required. Ideal as a high school elective but also suitable for motivated 8th graders.
The multi-authored Charlotte Mason Centenary Monograph series is designed to highlight and explore the continuing educational and leadership relevance of Charlotte Mason (1842–1923) through the collective contributions of the Armitt Museum and Library, the University of Cumbria, the Charlotte Mason Institute, and other scholars and practitioners worldwide.
