This Charlotte Mason reading curriculum is built around real literature from the very first lesson, using the Free and Treadwell Reading-Literature series to teach phonics, spelling patterns, vocabulary, grammar, and fluency entirely in context. Designed for both homeschool and classroom use, the program integrates narration, copywork, studied dictation, and a student Word Journal so that formal language skills develop naturally over time. Written and evaluated by reading specialists, the curriculum reflects well-established research in phonology, morphology, and etymology, ensuring a complete and lasting understanding of how English works. The curriculum is offered in three levels. Level 1 builds phonological awareness, phonics, and vocabulary through traditional folk tales, incorporating teacher read-alouds, shared reading, independent reading, and narration. By the end of Level 1, students decode and spell single sounds and syllables and read with appropriate fluency. Level 2 deepens comprehension through classic folk tales, fairy tales, poetry by Rossetti, and Mother Goose rhymes, adding work with multi-syllable words, affixes, and the six syllable types. Level 3 features folk tales, fairy tales, fables, and wonder tales from around the world alongside poetry by Robert Louis Stevenson and Christina Rossetti, emphasizing fluency, morphology, etymology, and higher-level phonics, and serving as a bridge to confident, independent reading.
