A Fresh Start

There is something so special about the first week of a new homeschool year. The pencils are sharp, the nature journals are empty and waiting, and somewhere in your home there is a stack of living books calling you and your littles to come and sit awhile. My family started the new school year this week, and even though I didn't check off every box on my planning to-do list, we got so much done, and it was a wonderful week. A lot of that is thanks to Alveary and how much of the planning it takes off my plate.
Charlotte Mason wrote that "education is the science of relations," the idea that children are meant to form real, living connections with ideas, people, nature, and God, not simply memorize facts about them. That's part of why Alveary is built the way it is. Planning a full Charlotte Mason education from scratch, choosing the right books, laying out a workable schedule, weaving in nature study and handicrafts, is a heavy lift for any parent to carry alone. Our hope is that Alveary carries some of that weight for you, so you can spend less time planning and more time sitting beside your children with a good book open.
That is what the start of the school year is really about: showing up, opening the books, and learning alongside your children. However your first day looked, whatever got checked off or didn't, take a moment to be proud of what you accomplished. You started. You showed up for your children and that is worth celebrating.
To those of you starting this journey today, next week, or later this month, be encouraged. We're honored to walk this path alongside you this year, and we can't wait to see what unfolds in your homes. Here's to a year of joy filled learning. You’ve got this!
SPOTLIGHT: Planning Tools Note
We are working to resolve a bug in the planning tool related to the feature which saves and connects your planning choices across the tool. However, we need help identifying the root problem as the tool is working seamlessly for many users and not consistently causing an issue. If you have had any trouble with the planning tool, know that your information is not necessarily lost, and please fill out this form to let us know!
