Alveary Foundations - Narration Update
The Narration section of our Foundations course has been significantly expanded. Narration is one of the most important practices in a Charlotte Mason education, and we wanted to give it the depth it deserves. Whether you are just beginning with narration or looking to grow in your understanding of how it develops across the years, there is something new here for you.
What you'll find inside:
- Tips on Beginning Oral Narration: Practical guidance for those just starting out, including how to keep expectations realistic, how to adjust reading length for beginning narrators and how to support students who struggle.
- Tips on Beginning Written Narration: Helpful strategies for the transition to written narration.
- Narrations and Writing Skills: A thoughtful look at how to handle spelling and grammar in written narrations.
- Expanding Narration: Ideas for keeping narrations fresh and meaningful as students grow, including a variety of creative narration types such as diary entries or poems.
- Three new Videos: An immersion lesson with a real book, answers to eight of the most common narration questions, and a video covering the process and progression of narration across the grades, check it out below!

In Mason's Own Words:
"A single reading is insisted on, because children have naturally great power of attention; but this force is dissipated by the re-reading of passages."
We hope these additions give you greater confidence and clarity as you use narration in your home. Head over to the Alveary Foundations Course to explore the updated Narration section in Relational Methods. We look forward to sharing more updates with you next week!
