Wrapping Up a Term
From the Alveary Team:
We are getting close to the time of year when many of us are finishing up Term 1 or beginning Term 2. This is an exciting time as you close out one term, start planning your exam week, and start looking forward to the next term or maybe a break in between.
If you find yourself needing a bit of guidance navigating Alveary resources or just want some encouragement from fellow moms, we invite you to join our Mom Chat on October 26th at 11 am EST. This is a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and support one another as we continue our educational journeys together.
If you haven’t looked at your Reflective Practice Plan Book in a while this is the perfect time to pull it out for insight on staying on top of your planning and goals. The Reflective Practice Plan book is packed with amazing reminders, tips, and encouragement throughout each term. And, it is especially beneficial towards the end of a term as you consider changes you need to make, habits you want to focus on, and what did or did not go well during the current term.
There are wonderful prompts, tips, and places for notes and reflection that can be beneficial if this is your first year following Charlotte Mason’s philosophy or if you are a seasoned CM educator.
Here are some of the topics you can review in the Reflective Practice Plan Book as you wrap up your first term:
- Regrouping and Looking Ahead
- Making Decisions for the end of Term 1
- Getting ready for exams
- Exam week
- End-of-term evaluation
- Scoring exams and providing feedback
- Reflection on the term
- Planning for the next term
The best way to wrap up a term is to feel prepared and ready for the next one! We encourage you all to utilize this amazing resource that you can find right in your Alveary Dashboard, in the “Before You Start” section. We would love to hear any exciting takeaways or insights you’ve had from Term 1, you can head to this post in the Hive to share with other Alveary members.

- Student Curriculum Survey: We’re excited to partner with you for the Alveary Curriculum Research Project to explore the benefits of a relational education. Please encourage your Alveary students aged 10 and up to complete the Student Survey.
- Chemistry Lab 3: Home Science Tools intended for students to use the isopropyl alcohol for Lab 3. Isopropyl alcohol IS miscible in water, however. So, while it could be a great thing to try as a comparison, it will not demonstrate the separation intended and we regret that we did not catch that mistake sooner. Don't worry - your student WILL need the alcohol for other labs and you likely have other nonpolar liquids at home that will work for Lab 3. You could use mineral spirits (from the hardware store), mineral oil (baby oil or wood countertop treatments), or vegetable oil with success.
