Practicing Reflection
There have been helpful posts on buying books and making schedules on the Hive recently, and it’s clear that each of you is striving to be a good steward of your time, materials, energy, and gifting. As part of this process, whether this is your first year of Alveary or your seventh, we encourage you to take a step back first and spend time in reflection.
The first section of Alveary's Reflective Practice Plan Book includes multiple prompts to help us think deeply about the personhood of our children and ourselves. The mindset of being a good steward begins with these reflections. Then, we can let go of our need to control every little thing while also rising to the expectations placed on us. We can accept where we are in our Mason journey and accept where our students are in their academic journeys without pressure to be somewhere else. We can cultivate a posture of thinking, seeking, trying, failing, reflecting, growing, and succeeding with grace and humility. We can stop trying to be the master and be content with being good and faithful servants. From this place of contentment, we can then begin the work of scheduling and planning with peace.
Join this circle in the Hive to walk through the Reflective Practice Plan Book with other members. Share your best tips for reflective practice–or how you have benefitted from it–in this Fabulous Friday post.
