Explore cartography, historical, and regional geography in these Charlotte Mason geography courses for grades 7–8. Grade 7 students trace the story of mapmaking from ancient Mesopotamia through the discovery of Antarctica in the late 1800s, drawing maps along the way and finishing with a term of historical and regional geography following US or Canadian travelers from the year's historical rotation. Grade 8 deepens the regional focus: U.S. students explore American geography through maps, illustrations, and travel narratives, while Canadian students create a detailed illustrated map of Canada's provinces and territories over the course of the year alongside a historical travelogue. Both grades meet twice a week and coordinate naturally with the History & Lit bundles covering the same time periods.
The multi-authored Charlotte Mason Centenary Monograph series is designed to highlight and explore the continuing educational and leadership relevance of Charlotte Mason (1842–1923) through the collective contributions of the Armitt Museum and Library, the University of Cumbria, the Charlotte Mason Institute, and other scholars and practitioners worldwide.
